OUR STORY
You can’t have a history, without evolution! This history of our great nation has shown us that we become greater as we move forward and evolve. Such is true for ministries. We know things change, people change, circumstances change and evolution once again impacts history.
At the same time we know that "God is the same yesterday, today and forever" and in 2007, there was a group of eight who were holding bible study in a home just outside Tampa, Florida. The group would evolve into a ministry known as Prevailing Word Fellowship. As the fellowship began to grow and additional space was needed, Prevailing Word joined with another local fellowship that was located in the historical Ybor City district of Tampa. This led to the current name of New Journey Ministries, Inc.
In 1986 the Global Alliance of Affirming Apostolic Pentecostals, became one of the first welcoming and affirming, LGBTQ+ communities of faith to be recognized by the United States Federal Government and the Internal Revenue Service.
Over the past several years both ministries shared in part the same leadership and that leadership thought it prudent and wise for the two ministries to become one. In 2015, after much prayer, thought and consideration, New Journey Ministries, Inc. and the Global Alliance of Affirming Apostolic Pentecostals, Inc. became one ministry.
New Journey continues to serve communities across the country in the capacities of ministry covering, advocacy, equality, civic and social justice and more to those marginalized. Our hope and prayer is always: we love you, we bless you, and we behold the Christ within you!
